Santa’s Tiny Home

It is less that a week now, until the Dereham Christmas Lights switch on this Sunday 3 December.  Cabins Unlimited are proud to providing the Christmas Grotto this year as Santa is coming to our town in his own tiny home.

Tiny homes and the tiny house movement started from a need to simplify life and become more environmentally friendly.  The idea being that living in a tiny home limits the costs on your wallet and the environment by costing less, creating less waste and leaving a smaller energy footprint.. A tiny house is defined as being a small space that ranges in size up to 400 square feet that can either be mobile or stationary.

When our manufacturer Eurovudas came to us with images of its tiny homes recently manufacturer for use in Australia we couldn’t help but see the benefits that a mobile cabin could bring to our customers.  For customers that both like the appeal of downsizing to tiny and business’s in need of portable sales offices, site offices and other temporary facilities.

Santa’s tiny home is part of our bigger Tiny home project which we will be launching later in 2018.  It has been based on one of our best selling Eurovudas models for 2017 – the Kent log cabin.  As standard the Kent Log cabin is a 3m by 2.5m model constructed with 44mm logs, to create Santas tiny grotto we have shrunk this down to 2.5m by 2m whilst still keeping the 44mm logs.

To make Santa’s tiny home extra special our Norfolk based Installers and Fitters team have constructed  it onto a trailer making it portable, which means that Santa’s Grotto can be wheeled into Dereham’s Market Place without the need for reindeer. Constructing the tiny home was a new challenge for our team of installer elves as they had to make sure that the tiny home was constructed in accordance with all  the rules and regulations that cover trailers.  Once built, the Grotto was treated with colour mixed Rystix Exterior timber treatment in festive colours with the inside treated in clear Armafloor to retain the traditional log cabin look. Now complete the Cabin on wheels is in the hands of Dereham Christmas Lights crew to add all the festive touches and we can’t wait to see the finished result on Sunday.  Tickets to see Santa in his tiny home grotto can be purchased via the Dereham Christmas Lights website here with a limited number also available on the day.  After the Christmas light switch on, the Grotto will be moved to it’s new home at Tesco Dereham until Christmas Eve.

Over the years many of our log cabins have been used for Santas Grottos, or Kiosks used for festive markets.  such as  the Eurovudas Brighton 1 Log Cabin being used as  last years Dereham’s Tesco Elf Station, with the Wales 2 Log cabin being constructed for the second year running at Woking Christmas Market.  Just check out these elaborate Christmas Grotto’s all transformed Eurovudas buildings.

If you are interested in a log cabin on wheels for yourself or your business call the sales team on  01362 470075 for further details.  If you want to check out Santa’s Tiny Home for yourself it will be in Derehams Market on Sunday 3rd December  and afterwards at Dereham Tesco Extra, accessed by a disability compliant ramp.
