At Cabins Unlimited we are pleased to now be able to offer EPDM, black rubber roofing across our entire ranges of flat and pent roof log cabins and summerhouses. Used in the industry commercially for over 50 years EPDM is the number one choice of roof covering
for flat and low pitch roofs. EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer), is a single ply
synthetic rubber roofing membrane that is extremely durable and offers up to 40
years of protection.
For the science bit, EPDM is a polymer compound that is made from ethylene, propylene and a small amount of diene monomer. These ingredients are combined to produce a roof covering that not only keeps your building water tight but also provides a high
degree of ozone, ultraviolet, weathering and abrasion resistance. Due to its make up EPDM also works extremely well in low temperatures maintaining its flexibility and not becoming brittle. The qualities of black EDPM can also save you money on your heating costs too as it is fantastic at absorbing and retaining the heat from sunlight helping to keep your timber building warm.
Our EPDM will come as one piece of rubber to cover your log cabin roof that will be fully adhered to the OSB boards covering the roof. EPDM can be cut to virtually any size from one piece of rubber up to 15m x 30m (49ft x 98ft). The main advantage of the one piece system is the lack of joints and therefore lack of any potential leaks.
If you’re a customer purchasing one of our log cabins you are making a significant investment and to take care of that investment we strive on providing the best in the market in terms of protecting your log cabin roof that is why we are excited to now be able to offer EPDM as an option for you.
